Momiji

Fruits Backet- Original New Years Design

The goal for the group was to make traditional Chinese New Year kimonos based on their represented animal. Momiji is the rabbit so I chose light spring colors and floral to represent him.

The underlayer is pink satin with iron-on vinyl appliques that I designed with a Cricut Maker. The collar is interfaced and the middle is padded.

The outer layer is a cotton blend lined in a cotton/satin blend. The trim is all cotton.

Belt is satin and brocade with more iron-on vinyl transfers. All pieces of the kimono were based on a pattern and then modified.

The hat was hand drafted and lined. The foral was added with glue.
